Students from primary schools across the Euroa electorate are displaying their creativity and Christmas spirit through the annual Christmas Card competition organized by the local Nationals Member, Annabelle Cleeland. This year, schools such as Heathcote Holy Rosary Catholic School and Heathcote Primary School are among the 23 participating institutions, contributing hundreds of unique card designs.
Ms. Cleeland expressed her delight at the overwhelming response, stating, “This year my office has been absolutely flooded with hundreds and hundreds of Christmas card designs from students right across our region.” The submissions encapsulate the essence of Christmas as experienced by the children, reflecting themes such as family gatherings, backyard cricket, twinkling lights, and festive decorations.
The creativity shown in the designs has included whimsical illustrations, with some cards featuring kangaroos in Santa hats and koalas nestled in gum trees, alongside a few snowmen for added holiday cheer. Ms. Cleeland emphasized that the entries highlight the spirit and imagination of the young people across the electorate. “From Benalla to Broadford, Euroa to Avenel, Kilmore to Nagambie, every school showed such creativity and heart,” she remarked.
Given the impressive array of submissions, Ms. Cleeland and her team faced a challenging task in selecting winners. Ultimately, they decided to honor a total of 17 students from various schools. All entries will be showcased at Ms. Cleeland’s office in Benalla, allowing the community to appreciate the artistic talents of local children.
“I’d love locals to walk past and see the incredible talent of our region’s kids – it’s a wonderful reminder of the joy and generosity that define our communities,” she stated. With this initiative, Ms. Cleeland hopes to bring the community together and foster a festive atmosphere as the holiday season approaches.
The Christmas Card competition not only provides an opportunity for young artists to express themselves but also reinforces the sense of community within the Euroa electorate. As the festive season draws near, the initiative serves as a beacon of creativity and joy, reminding everyone of the spirit of giving and celebration.
