A temporary traffic park will be set up at Kelly Park in Werribee from January 10 to 18, providing children aged three to ten years, along with beginners, an opportunity to develop essential bicycle riding skills. This initiative aims to teach road sense and safety through an engaging traffic simulation designed for young cyclists.
The pop-up cycling course will feature mini shopfronts, road signs, and vibrant cycling zones. Young riders can explore realistic road scenarios that include speed humps, pedestrian crossings, traffic lights, and various turns. These setups allow children to practice real-world road rules in a secure and enjoyable environment. Throughout the week, families can participate in free activities aimed at enhancing their experience.
In addition to the traffic simulation, learn to cycle sessions will be conducted by expert coaches from the Community Bike Hub. These sessions cater to both children and adults, focusing on building confidence and imparting fundamental skills for safe cycling. Participants can drop in anytime to ride between 9:30 AM and 4:30 PM, or they can pre-register for specific learn to cycle or bike mechanic sessions.
Adding to the offerings, Mick the Mechanic will provide family entertainment that includes magic tricks alongside bicycle repair services. This event not only promotes cycling safety but also encourages families to enjoy a day out in Werribee, with additional visits to nearby attractions such as the Werribee Library and Wyndham Park.
Given the limited availability of places, registration is essential for those wishing to participate. For more details and to register, interested families can visit the official website at https://www.wyndham.vic.gov.au/. This initiative represents a community effort to foster safe cycling habits among youth while providing a fun and interactive environment.
