Young Artists Showcase Nature at Wild HeART Exhibition Trail

The Wild HeART Student Art Prize Finalists’ Exhibition Trail has transformed the Maroochy Bushland Botanic Garden into a vibrant showcase of creativity this summer. Featuring artworks by local children and young people aged 5 to 18, the exhibition invites visitors to explore 22 captivating pieces that celebrate a love for nature and native Australian species.

As attendees stroll through this outdoor gallery, they will encounter a diverse range of artworks, including depictions of whale sharks, bandicoots, butterflies, and various bird species. Each creation reflects the young artists’ deep curiosity and admiration for the natural world.

Visitors have the unique opportunity to participate in the exhibition by voting for their favorite artwork in the People’s Choice award. The winner will be announced on January 21, 2026.

Community Engagement and Artistic Celebration

Councillor Maria Suarez of the Sunshine Coast Council expressed her enthusiasm for the event, inviting the community to celebrate both creativity and environmental awareness. “Congratulations to the 22 creative and passionate finalists, and to all the children who entered—from across our region and neighbouring areas,” Cr Suarez stated. “Each piece showcases more than just skill; they reflect these young artists’ curiosity, love for native species, and the special places they explore across the Sunshine Coast and beyond.”

Cr Suarez further acknowledged the inspiring talent displayed in the entries, emphasizing the importance of nurturing such creativity in young people. “Thank you to all the young artists who entered the art prize. Your creativity and talent is truly inspiring. I can’t wait to explore the trail and cast my People’s Choice vote.”

Details of the Exhibition

The Wild HeART Finalists’ Exhibition Trail will remain open until February 6, 2026, allowing ample time for the public to experience the artworks during daylight hours. The exhibition is accessible via gravel and sealed paths, as well as open lawn areas, ensuring that everyone can enjoy the art.
