Albanese Ties the Knot: Historic Wedding at The Lodge

Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese and Jodie Haydon celebrated their wedding on Saturday at The Lodge, marking a historic occasion as the first marriage of a sitting Australian prime minister. The intimate ceremony was attended by approximately 60 guests, making it a memorable event in the realm of Australian politics.

The new “first lady,” Jodie Haydon, has built a distinguished career over the past 20 years in the superannuation industry. Currently, she serves as the head of strategic partnerships at Teachers Mutual Bank. Born in Bankstown, Haydon grew up on the Central Coast of New South Wales and comes from a family of schoolteachers who have long supported the Labor Party.

Albanese and Haydon’s relationship began in late 2019 at a national union conference in Melbourne, where Haydon caught Albanese’s attention by exclaiming “up the Rabbitohs,” referring to the South Sydney Rabbitohs rugby league team. Albanese, also a fan, introduced himself, and the two subsequently met for a drink at Young Henrys Brewery in Newtown.

Their relationship blossomed during the COVID-19 pandemic, remaining largely private until they publicly shared their affection. In October 2023, Albanese expressed his happiness about finding love again, following his separation from former New South Wales Deputy Premier Carmel Tebbutt in 2019.

Haydon has been a consistent presence by Albanese’s side, accompanying him during the 2022 and 2025 federal election campaigns. She has also participated in official visits to major cities, including Dubai, Paris, New York, and London.

Albanese proposed to Haydon at their home, The Lodge, on February 14, 2024, after a romantic dinner at Italian and Sons in Canberra. Their quiet nuptials at The Lodge symbolized not only their commitment to each other but also a new chapter in Albanese’s personal life as he continues to lead the nation.

As they embark on this journey together, the couple embodies a blend of personal and political partnership, capturing the hearts of many Australians.
