Buccaneers’ Mayfield, Godwin, and Wirfs Set to Play Sunday

Three pivotal players for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers are anticipated to take the field on Sunday against the Philadelphia Eagles. Sources confirmed to ESPN’s Adam Schefter that quarterback Baker Mayfield, wide receiver Chris Godwin Jr., and left tackle Tristan Wirfs are expected to play, despite their questionable status heading into the game.

Mayfield has been dealing with a right biceps injury that limited him during practice throughout the week. He was observed wearing a compression sleeve on his arm, but head coach Todd Bowles expressed optimism on Friday, stating that the quarterback “should be OK for Sunday.”

Both Godwin and Wirfs missed the first three games of the season but participated fully in practice on Friday, marking their anticipated return for the 2025 season. Godwin’s presence is particularly significant for the Buccaneers as they work to fill the void left by leading wide receiver Mike Evans, who is projected to be sidelined for three to four weeks due to a strained left hamstring, according to ESPN’s Jenna Laine.

The return of these key players could provide a much-needed boost to the Buccaneers as they prepare to face a formidable opponent in the Eagles. With their playoff aspirations on the line, the Buccaneers are counting on the experience and skill of Mayfield, Godwin, and Wirfs to secure a crucial victory.

As the game approaches, fans and analysts alike will be watching closely to see how the return of these players impacts the Buccaneers’ performance on the field.
