Tino and Iszac Fa’asuamaleaui, once connected through their time at the Gold Coast Titans, are taking separate paths as Iszac embarks on a new chapter with the Catalans Dragons in the UK Super League. Iszac has signed a two-year deal with the French-based club, a move that comes as he seeks to develop his career after 25 appearances for the Titans over three seasons.
Iszac’s departure marks a significant shift for the Titans, who are currently struggling at the bottom of the NRL standings. The 23-year-old made 11 appearances off the bench this season and expressed enthusiasm for his new opportunity. “It’s a great opportunity for me to improve my game, gain experience, and be a part of what Joel Tomkins is building within the playing group,” Iszac said on the Catalans club website. He also looks forward to experiencing life in the south of France with his family.
As Iszac moves on, his elder brother Tino, who has made 108 NRL appearances and represented Queensland 15 times, is evaluating his options. Tino holds a long-term contract with the last-placed Titans, extending until 2033, but includes several get-out clauses. The first of these is at the end of the next season, allowing him to explore opportunities elsewhere.
Reports suggest that NRL newcomers, including the Perth Bears, as well as established teams like the Canterbury Bulldogs and St George Illawarra Dragons, are interested in signing Tino. His prior success with the Melbourne Storm, where he contributed to their premiership win in 2020, has kept him a sought-after player in the league.
The departure of Iszac Fa’asuamaleaui underscores the ongoing changes within the Gold Coast Titans as they seek to rebuild their squad. With both brothers now charting their own courses, fans are eager to see how each will perform in their respective leagues.
