Top Fantasy Football Draft Targets for 2025: Burrow and McConkey Stand Out

As fantasy football enthusiasts gear up for the 2025 draft season, expert analysis highlights key players who could make a significant impact. According to ESPN’s Matt Bowen, a blend of statistical performance and player potential has shaped his list of top draft targets. This includes established stars alongside newcomers who are poised for breakout seasons.

Bowen’s evaluation focuses on players across various positions, emphasizing consistency and upside. He ranks these targets based on their projected performance and value, making them essential for any fantasy football team aiming to secure a championship.

Key Players to Watch

Jahmyr Gibbs, running back for the Detroit Lions, stands out as a top pick. With an average draft position (ADP) of RB3, Gibbs showcases an explosive playstyle, demonstrated by six games exceeding 24 points in 2024. He scored a total of 20 touchdowns last season, even while sharing touches with teammate David Montgomery. His dual-threat ability as both a goal-line runner and pass-catcher makes him a probable contender for the coveted RB1 title.

Another notable player is Joe Burrow, quarterback for the Cincinnati Bengals. With an ADP of QB5, Burrow led the league last season with 4,918 passing yards and 43 touchdowns. His ability to execute a pass-heavy offense effectively, coupled with elite pocket movement, positions him as a valuable asset in the fourth round of drafts. Burrow’s connection with star receivers Ja’Marr Chase and Tee Higgins further enhances his appeal.

Ladd McConkey, wide receiver for the Los Angeles Chargers, recorded an average of 15.1 points per game last season, which surged to 18.7 points during the latter part of the campaign. His exceptional route-running skills and increasing production make him a strong candidate for a breakout season, with a projected ADP of WR13.

Emerging Talents and Late-Round Fliers

In the running back category, TreVeyon Henderson of the New England Patriots is a name to monitor. With an ADP of RB21, Henderson’s big-play potential and pass-catching ability suggest he could become a valuable asset in a shared backfield. His performance in college, where he caught 46 passes over two seasons at Ohio State, positions him to contribute significantly in the Patriots’ offense.

Also worth noting is Jameson Williams from the Detroit Lions. With an ADP of WR30, Williams possesses game-changing speed that could elevate his performance this season. Last year, he averaged 14.4 points per game and had multiple games exceeding 22 points, indicating his ability to deliver explosive plays.

In addition, Isiah Pacheco of the Kansas City Chiefs is a potential middle-round value pick. After a 2024 season impacted by injury, Pacheco’s previous performance in 2023, where he averaged 15.3 points per game, showcases his dual-threat capability and effectiveness in red zone situations.

Bowen also highlights Jakobi Meyers of the Las Vegas Raiders, who averaged 14.4 points per game last season. As a reliable target, Meyers is positioned to contribute consistently, especially in an upgraded offensive scheme alongside quarterback Geno Smith.

For those looking for late-round fliers, Baker Mayfield of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers presents an intriguing option. His ADP of QB7 reflects his solid production last season, where he averaged 21.5 points per game and demonstrated an ability to run the ball effectively.

Other emerging talents like Ricky Pearsall from the San Francisco 49ers and Evan Engram of the Denver Broncos also warrant attention. Pearsall’s opportunity in a high-powered offense and Engram’s potential under new coaching schemes make them valuable considerations in the later rounds.

As the 2025 fantasy football draft approaches, focusing on these players can provide a competitive edge. Bowen’s insights underscore the importance of balancing talent and value to build a winning lineup.
