Binge, the Australian streaming platform, is set to enhance its offerings by integrating major global news channels into its service. Starting from December 16, 2025, subscribers will gain complimentary access to renowned channels such as NBC News NOW, Sky News Extra, and Sky News Weather. This expansion aims to provide users with over 25,000 hours of additional news content annually, bringing the total number of news channels on the platform to 13.
The decision reflects Foxtel’s strategy to consolidate its news services and improve user experience. Currently, Binge hosts 10 live news channels, including prominent names like Al Jazeera English, CNN International, and FOX SPORTS News. The move is designed to create a comprehensive hub for subscribers, combining local and international news alongside lifestyle and entertainment content.
Strategic Shift in Streaming Services
As part of this strategic overhaul, Foxtel will retire its dedicated FLASH news streaming service in February 2026. This change is accompanied by the discontinuation of the LifeStyle streaming service, which includes popular Australian shows like Selling Houses Australia and The Great Australian Bake Off. Foxtel aims to streamline its offerings and enhance the overall customer experience by leveraging the technology and product development capabilities of its parent company, DAZN.
Hilary Perchard, CEO of Foxtel, Kayo Sports, and Binge, expressed optimism regarding the changes, stating, “These changes make sense for all subscribers. For Binge subscribers, they receive more value and choice with a larger selection of live news channels.” He emphasized the benefits for FLASH and LifeStyle subscribers, who will now find their news and lifestyle content in one location, alongside a variety of movies and documentaries.
The enhancements come at a time when many streaming service users are looking for greater simplicity and value. By integrating various services, Binge aims to meet these demands and improve user satisfaction.
Promotional Offers for New Subscribers
To celebrate the updates, Binge is offering a promotional deal for both new and returning customers. From now until December 8, 2025, users can access any Binge package for just $2 for the first month, encouraging more viewers to join the platform.
With the addition of these major news channels and the retirement of separate services, Binge is positioning itself as a comprehensive streaming solution. This strategic shift not only enhances its content library but also aligns with the evolving preferences of modern subscribers seeking convenience and variety in their viewing options.
