XPENG has begun the global rollout of its latest over-the-air (OTA) software update, known as XOS 5.8.0, which was launched on August 25, 2025. This significant update introduces a range of enhanced features aimed at improving the driving experience for owners worldwide, including those in Australia.
The XOS 5.8.0 update represents the third major software enhancement from the electric vehicle manufacturer this year. It places a strong focus on user feedback, leading to localized improvements in intelligent driving, in-cabin comfort, and personalization. This commitment to continuous enhancement reflects XPENG’s strategy to deliver meaningful updates that enhance the user experience over time.
New Features Enhance Driving Experience
One of the standout features of this update is the introduction of the Human-Machine Co-Driving function. This allows the Lane Centering Control (LCC) to remain active even when the driver is actively steering, a notable difference from many competing systems that disengage during manual input. This innovation aims to create a smoother driving assistance experience, particularly in complex situations such as merging onto highways.
In a nod to pet owners, XPENG has also launched a new Pet Mode, similar to features offered by other electric vehicle manufacturers. This mode ensures the safety of pets left in the vehicle for short periods. The system automatically secures the vehicle by locking the doors and closing the windows, while climate control maintains a comfortable environment. Additionally, owners are able to monitor their pets remotely through the XPENG app and receive alerts, ensuring peace of mind while they are away.
Entertainment and Customization Features
For those who enjoy in-car entertainment, the XOS 5.8.0 update introduces a karaoke feature through the vehicle’s App Store. Designed primarily for rear-seat passengers, this feature minimizes distraction for drivers while enhancing the overall travel experience. The system utilizes Karafun, a discreet karaoke service, which is compatible with the car’s central infotainment system and includes dedicated microphones.
Responding to feedback from customers in warmer climates, XPENG has adjusted the air conditioning minimum temperature to 16°C, enhancing cooling performance. Furthermore, the Dashcam function now includes an Emergency Recording feature, providing additional security for drivers.
The update also enhances the XCOMBO scenario tool, which now supports 21 languages and offers over 700 functions. This allows users to create and edit personalized scenarios for entertainment, safety, or energy-saving directly through the vehicle’s display or mobile app.
XPENG’s XOS 5.8.0 update is currently rolling out progressively to owners around the globe. The company emphasizes its ongoing commitment to improving the user experience through regular software updates.
