UPDATE: Aunty Aud, a cherished member of the Melton community, has just celebrated her remarkable 100th birthday with family and friends. The celebration took place on September 11 at Estia Health Melton South, where she has been living since December 2022.
Surrounded by her extended family, including 20 nieces and nephews and a multitude of great-nieces and great-nephews, Audrey Arnold’s milestone birthday was a heartfelt tribute to her lifetime of care and compassion. One of her nieces, Cheryl Evans, shared that Aunty Aud has always been actively involved in her community, notably volunteering with the Red Cross, where she served refreshments to blood donors and knitted over 1,000 trauma teddies for children in need.
“She’s never been married, never had a car license, and has always lived independently until recently,” Evans revealed. The warmth and love from her family were evident as they celebrated this significant day, marking a century of cherished memories.
Great-niece Donna May described Aunty Aud as the family matriarch, stating, “She’s always been there for everyone… I just love her to death.” The emotional connection within the family was palpable, with May expressing, “Auntie Aud has been there for every one of us and is very loved.”
In addition to the family festivities, Aunty Aud received congratulatory letters from prestigious figures, including King Charles, Queen Camilla, Prime Minister Anthony Albanese, and Premier Jacinta Allan, recognizing her incredible journey and contributions.
