Churches and Police Deliver Over 200 Christmas Hampers NOW

URGENT UPDATE: Melton’s Police Station has launched a vital community initiative, delivering over 200 Christmas hampers to families in need just in time for the holiday season. This collaborative effort with Sureway International Christian Ministries and Melton Christian Church underscores the growing urgency to support local residents facing financial difficulties.

As Christmas approaches, the need for assistance has intensified, according to Reverend Dr. William Osagiede. “There’s a need for it now more than ever before,” he stated. This program, now in its third year, expanded last year to include the Melton Christian Church, significantly increasing its outreach.

The hampers, filled with essential food items, are assembled directly by the churches, which fund the initiative entirely. “We purchase the food, we buy everything ourselves and package it together,” Rev. Osagiede explained. The mission is clear: bring joy to those struggling with rising living costs and help alleviate the burden of expensive groceries during this festive period.

Acting Sergeant Joanne Mutsearts, Neighbourhood Policing Co-ordinator, emphasized the importance of this initiative. “It’s often really difficult for people to reach out and ask for help,” she said. “Being able to hand over these small hampers lets you see firsthand the impact they have.” This effort is not just about delivering food; it’s about creating a support network in the community.

The hampers are being distributed throughout the Melton community, providing crucial support to families who may otherwise struggle during the Christmas season. “The amazing generosity of the church in packaging over 200 hampers goes on to support some of the community who may be struggling at this time of the year,” Mutsearts added.

Community members are encouraged to get involved, as the need for support continues to grow. “The world is becoming darker and darker every day—we want to shine the light of God by giving back and helping those in need,” Rev. Osagiede stated.

As the delivery of these hampers continues, the impact of this initiative is palpable. Local police are expressing their gratitude for the partnership, recognizing the importance of collective action in times of need.

Stay tuned for further updates as this heartwarming initiative unfolds and spreads hope throughout Melton this Christmas season. Your support could change lives—consider contributing if you can.
