Chuy’s Breaks Ground for New $1.75M Restaurant in Leander

UPDATE: Austin-based Tex-Mex chain Chuy’s is set to break ground on a new location in Leander, with construction commencing soon at the intersection of Ronald Reagan Blvd & Kaufman Loop. Official public records reveal that this new restaurant will span 6,566 square feet and is projected to cost approximately $1.75 million, aiming for completion by the end of July 2026.

This development is exciting news for Tex-Mex enthusiasts in the growing Leander area, who will soon gain access to Chuy’s vibrant, flavorful offerings. The company’s commitment to authentic and fresh food has made it a beloved establishment in Texas, with over 15 locations currently serving customers from San Antonio to Dallas-Fort Worth.

Chuy’s has a rich history, having opened its first restaurant on April 16, 1982, in an old BBQ joint in Austin, Texas. Founders Mike Young and John Zapp envisioned a fun and funky dining experience, which has since blossomed into a cherished Tex-Mex institution.
