BREAKING: Multiple explosions rocked a mosque at SMA 27 high school in Jakarta, Indonesia, during Friday prayers, injuring at least 54 people, primarily students. The blasts occurred around 12 PM local time, just as the sermon began, sending worshippers into a panic amidst the chaos.
Witnesses reported hearing at least two loud explosions as grey smoke filled the mosque located within a navy compound in the Kelapa Gading neighborhood. The immediate aftermath saw students and others fleeing, with many suffering cuts and injuries from flying glass shards.
Jakarta Police Chief Asep Edi Suheri confirmed that while the cause of the explosions remains unknown, investigators found toy rifles and a toy gun near the mosque’s loudspeaker.
