Fatal Pedestrian Incident Closes Mitchell Freeway Northbound

UPDATE: The northbound lanes of the Mitchell Freeway are currently closed following a fatal incident involving a pedestrian early this morning. The tragic event occurred at approximately 3:25 AM near the Cedric Street overpass, prompting an extensive police investigation that has left the major route inaccessible.

As of 2 PM today, investigators remain on the scene, gathering evidence and conducting interviews. Authorities confirm that the closure spans the area between Cedric Street and Karrinyup Road. Traffic is severely congested throughout the region, with significant delays reported on Scarborough Beach Road. Motorists are advised to consider alternative routes, particularly the Powis Street exit, to avoid further delays.

Witnesses or anyone with dash-cam footage of the incident are urged to contact Crime Stoppers at 1800 333 000. Footage can also be uploaded directly to police through their designated channels.
