UPDATE: Historic milestones were celebrated at the Kilsyth Cricket Club last weekend as veteran player Stewart Gibb marked his 550th senior game in a record 48th consecutive season. In an emotional moment, he played alongside his son Joel Gibb, who achieved his own milestone with 200 senior games.
The atmosphere was electric as the club recognized these achievements, reflecting the deep-rooted family legacy within the sport. Sarah Gibbs made headlines by capturing an impressive 5/24, marking the first-ever five-wicket haul for the Kilsyth Women’s team.
In the Men’s First XI match against Heatherdale on October 14, 2023, Kilsyth struggled after a shaky start, eventually bowled out for just 57 runs. This follows a dismal performance where they lost their last six wickets for a mere 17 runs. Harry Box emerged as the standout bowler, taking 7/36, leading to a quick demise for Kilsyth.
Heatherdale’s chase was met with challenges, but they successfully reached the target, finishing on 4/47 in just 14.3 overs.
The Second XI’s match against Lilydale also ended unfavorably for Kilsyth, with the Falcons overtaking their score of 123 comfortably, finishing at 3/124.
The Women’s First XI faced Wandin, a rematch from previous Grand Finals, showcasing intense competition. Kilsyth set a formidable target of 192 runs, but Wandin fell short, all out for 150. Sarah Gibbs’s standout bowling performance was key to Kilsyth’s victory.
Meanwhile, the U16 team continued to shine, leading the ladder after a decisive victory over Boronia Hawks, chasing down 98 runs with ease, finishing at 1/101.
