UPDATE: A tragic incident in Hornsby, Sydney has left an eight-month pregnant woman dead after being struck by a vehicle. A 19-year-old driver has been charged with dangerous driving occasioning death, including the loss of a foetus, following the collision on Friday night.
Emergency services rushed to the scene at approximately 8 PM on October 6, 2023, where the woman was treated by ambulance paramedics before being transported to Westmead Hospital in critical condition. Despite their efforts, both she and her unborn child could not be saved.
Authorities report that the woman was walking at a car park entrance when the incident occurred. The BMW driven by the teenager allegedly rear-ended a Kia station wagon, causing it to crash into her. Both drivers were unharmed and taken to Hornsby Hospital for mandatory testing.
The young driver was arrested at his home in Wahroonga in the early hours of Saturday morning and subsequently charged. He has been refused bail and is set to appear before Parramatta Local Court today.
