UPDATE: Three men have been charged in connection with a string of burglaries, including a significant break-in at the Glenrowan solar farm. The trio faces serious charges, including burglary, theft, and drug offences, following their alleged actions on September 10.
The sprawling solar facility, located adjacent to the Hume Highway, was reportedly targeted late at night. Authorities confirm that the men accessed the site and stole numerous tools, raising concerns about security at renewable energy installations. Just hours after the Glenrowan incident, the suspects are believed to have also targeted a Yarrawonga council depot and a local business, where they again made off with valuable power tools.
The accused will appear in Wangaratta court on November 10, where they will face the consequences of their alleged actions. This news comes amid a wider investigation by Border police, who are looking into a concerning rise in vehicle fires in the area. Between September 24 and September 30, six incidents of car fires have been reported, raising alarms within the community.
In a separate incident, a woman has been taken from court after being deemed unfit to participate in a bail application. She is accused of striking a 62-year-old stranger from behind in an unprovoked attack while also racially abusing another individual outside a Wodonga pub. This incident underscores ongoing concerns about public safety in the region.
Authorities are urging residents to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activity as investigations continue. With multiple ongoing cases, the community is on alert, and local law enforcement is working diligently to restore peace and safety.
