A Utah-based franchisee is making significant strides in the Orlando area with plans to expand the presence of Five Guys. Darven Erickson, CEO of North Star Dining USA Inc., announced intentions to open eight additional Five Guys locations in Central Florida, following the acquisition of 17 existing restaurants in the region. The deal, valued at up to $12 million, was facilitated by National Franchise Sales (NFS), which successfully guided the transaction from Bengel’s Burgers, LLC, a long-time operator of the franchise.
The news, reported by WFTV in collaboration with the Orlando Business Journal, highlights North Star Dining’s commitment to growth within the Five Guys brand. While specific locations and timelines for the new restaurants have yet to be disclosed, the company plans to invest an additional $5.7 million into this expansion.
North Star Dining USA is actively pursuing growth opportunities, as demonstrated by its recent acquisition of all 18 Five Guys locations in the Minneapolis–Saint Paul market in July 2024. This strategic focus on expanding in key markets underscores a robust trajectory for the franchisee.
Founded in 1986 in Arlington, Virginia, Five Guys has grown into a global brand with over 1,000 locations worldwide. The restaurant is particularly noted for its customer service and value proposition. Diners can enjoy complimentary fresh peanuts, generous portions of fries, and a welcoming atmosphere, contributing to the chain’s loyal customer base.
As North Star Dining USA continues to invest in Central Florida, the franchise’s expansion reflects a positive outlook for the fast-casual dining segment in the region. The addition of new locations promises to create job opportunities and enhance dining options for residents and visitors alike.
