Brock Bowers Claims Maxx Crosby’s Competitiveness Leads to Practice Cheating

The intense competition within the NFL was highlighted recently when tight end Brock Bowers discussed the competitive nature of edge rusher Maxx Crosby. During an appearance on the Bussin’ With The Boys podcast, Bowers suggested that Crosby’s drive to win sometimes leads him to bend the rules during practice. This revelation comes as the Las Vegas Raiders focus on building a competitive team around standout players like Bowers and Crosby.

Bowers, who made an impressive debut last season as a first-round pick, shared insights into their practice sessions. He described Crosby as “a tough dude to block,” noting his relentless approach. “He jumps around, even at practice… he dissects what we’re lined up in. It’s nuts,” Bowers remarked, emphasizing Crosby’s commitment to his craft.

Competitive Edge in Practice

The atmosphere of competition in Raiders’ training sessions has drawn attention, especially regarding Crosby’s disruptive style. Bowers confirmed a humorous anecdote where coaches had to ask Crosby to step aside while the offense practiced their plays. “In run game stuff, it was a little dicey sometimes… he’d get in the backfield so fast, it’s not even funny,” he explained, indicating that Crosby’s eagerness often puts him ahead of the game.

Fellow podcast host Taylor Lewan, a former NFL player, mentioned that defensive players frequently peek at the offensive scripts, often displayed in the equipment room. This insight supports the idea that Crosby’s competitive nature drives him to gain any advantage possible.

Crosby himself has expressed his desire to win, which has kept him as a key player on a struggling Raiders team. His commitment is evident in his recent three-year contract extension, facilitated by the new leadership under part-owner Tom Brady and head coach Pete Carroll. “It’s an honor… to have the Raiders show me that type of respect,” Crosby stated, affirming his dedication to the team’s success.

The Raiders aim to enhance their roster with players who share this competitive mindset. Bowers and Crosby represent a foundation of talent, and new draft pick Ashton Jeanty may further strengthen this core. With this level of determination, the Raiders could prove formidable in the competitive AFC West.

As the Raiders continue to reshape their identity, the focus remains on instilling a winning culture. With players like Bowers and Crosby leading the charge, the team hopes to cultivate a spirit of competition that transcends practice and translates into success on the field.
