Huawei Cloud Expands Operations in Indonesia, Boosts AI Development

On December 2, 2025, Huawei Cloud hosted the Huawei Cloud Summit Indonesia in Jakarta, drawing over 500 attendees from government, business, and technology sectors. The summit focused on harnessing opportunities in the artificial intelligence (AI) landscape to support Indonesia’s vision of becoming a fully digital nation.

During the event, Xin Dajiang, Chairman of the Board of Directors for Huawei Indonesia, emphasized the company’s commitment to collaborating with major local enterprises, including Telkomsel, Indosat, and PLN. These partnerships aim to enhance ecosystem growth, create jobs, and develop a new generation of digital talent in Indonesia. The Huawei Cloud facility in Jakarta features three availability zones (AZs), which facilitate advanced AI and cloud services crucial for digital transformation across various sectors.

The advancements in cloud technology are seen as pivotal for Indonesia’s development. Sunny Shang, President of Huawei Cloud Asia Pacific, reiterated the company’s dedication to improving local infrastructure and AI capabilities. The goal is to accelerate industry intelligence while fostering a robust ecosystem involving over 300 partners. This investment aims to establish a strong cloud foundation for the emerging AI era.

In 2022, Huawei Cloud launched its 3-AZ data center, achieving high availability of 99.99% and a latency of just 20 milliseconds. As part of ongoing infrastructure investments, Leon Fang, CEO of Huawei Cloud Indonesia, announced plans to introduce a fourth AZ in 2026. This initiative underscores Huawei Cloud’s role as a digital transformation partner for local businesses.

The summit also marked a significant partnership announcement between Huawei Cloud and Telkomsel, enhancing industry intelligence through comprehensive AI capabilities. The two companies introduced a joint content delivery network (CDN) service aimed at improving local content distribution.

AI technology is rapidly evolving, shifting paradigms from generative models to agentic frameworks, and from public data to industry-specific applications. This transformation is prompting cloud data centers to become intelligent foundations for the AI landscape. William Dong, President of Huawei Cloud Marketing, highlighted their efforts to open full-stack AI capabilities to help local customers seize AI opportunities.

Huawei Cloud continues to advance its data and AI services through innovative platforms. The recently launched next-generation serverless AI-native lakehouse, Data Fabric, provides a high-performance engine for real-time data solutions. Their latest data warehouse service, DWS 3.0, allows for independent scaling of storage and compute resources, improving overall efficiency.

In line with its Cloud for Good philosophy, Huawei Cloud emphasizes the importance of sustainable development and community welfare. Aka Dai, Director of Huawei Cloud Marketing, discussed how the Cloud for Good initiative is positively impacting Indonesia. The company collaborates with universities and local organizations to cultivate digital talent, having signed agreements with over 100 educational institutions and government bodies, aiming to develop more than 100,000 digital professionals.

The summit featured a series of keynotes and sessions that showcased Huawei Cloud’s AI capabilities and technological innovations across various sectors, including e-commerce, FinTech, and media. Notable attendees such as Bank Neo Commerce and Alfamart shared their successes in using Huawei Cloud solutions. Additionally, a new AI Partner Alliance for Governments and Enterprises was launched to accelerate intelligent development among local businesses.

The exhibition area at the summit displayed cutting-edge technologies and innovations, with participation from leading partners in AI, FinTech, and retail. This collaborative effort highlights Huawei Cloud’s commitment to supporting the growth of Indonesia’s digital economy and fostering an inclusive, intelligent future.
