In an emotional reflection, Mrs. Strange revealed, “I’ve spent hours outside watching and photographing the whole process. From the egg to the caterpillar, to the chrysalis and finally the butterfly, it’s such a quick and beautiful transformation.” The book is filled with stunning illustrations and is aimed at older children and young teens, aiming to instill a sense of environmental responsibility.
The narrative centers around the critical relationship between the Cairns Birdwing and its native food source, the vine Aristolochia tagala. “If the female butterfly lays her eggs on the wrong vine, Aristolochia elegans, the caterpillars die,” Mrs. Strange explained.
