URGENT UPDATE: In a pivotal move for the audio industry, Commercial Radio & Audio (CRA) has named Peter Charlton as its new Chair, effective immediately. Charlton, the chief executive of NOVA Entertainment, steps into this role following the departure of Ciaran Davis, who has served three transformative years.
Charlton’s appointment signals a new chapter for CRA, emphasizing a commitment to innovation and collaboration. “I’m honoured to be taking on the role of Chair at such an exciting time for commercial radio and audio,” Charlton stated. He highlighted the industry’s unprecedented opportunities for growth and the importance of strengthening CRA’s voice.
In his new role, Charlton aims to build on the advancements initiated by Davis, particularly in measurement, digital capability, and industry standards. He praised his long-standing partnership with CRA CEO Lizzie Young, stating, “Having a formidable senior media executive like her leading the team is invaluable.”
Young expressed enthusiasm for Charlton’s leadership, thanking Davis for his dedication during a period of significant transformation. “Pete’s right about the opportunity ahead,” she remarked. The recent launch of initiatives such as CRA Audio ID showcases the industry’s collaborative spirit, she noted.
Charlton will guide a board consisting of senior executives from industry leaders including ARN Media, Southern Cross Austereo, Nine, and ACE Radio. Rowly Paterson has been re-elected as Vice Chair – Regional, ensuring continuity in leadership.
As CRA embarks on this new era, the focus remains on bolstering the prominence of radio through government regulation and enhancing customer engagement. The annual industry showcase event, HEARD, along with the power of audio campaign, are set to play key roles in this mission.
