BREAKING: Tesla has just announced a monumental achievement, reaching a staggering 75,000 Supercharger stalls globally. The milestone stall is located in South Hobart, Tasmania, marking a significant expansion in the electric vehicle (EV) charging network.
The celebratory site is positioned at the South Hobart Smart Store on 12 Cascade Road, South Hobart, TAS 7004. This new installation not only serves local EV owners but also benefits tourists exploring the island. Featuring four of Tesla’s latest Supercharger V4 units, the location is designed for greater accessibility, boasting longer cables and simplified payment options.
Local Tesla enthusiast Gerard Wood was present at the launch today, capturing the moment with his Canon EOS R3 camera. He shared images showcasing the charger, which proudly displays its origins dating back to the first Supercharger in 2012. Now, 13 years later, Tesla celebrates this impressive milestone.
The rapid growth of Tesla’s Supercharger network is evident, with the company recently reaching 50,000 stalls in September 2023 and 60,000 in November 2024. This acceleration highlights the increasing demand for EV infrastructure, especially as adoption rates soar in areas like Tasmania and the ACT.
For those in South Hobart, visiting the new milestone stall is a must. The Glacia Blue design is a vibrant upgrade compared to the previously celebrated green and gold 100th anniversary Supercharger in Australia.
Pricing details have also been confirmed: Tesla owners will pay approximately $0.69 AUD per kWh, while non-Tesla drivers will incur a rate of $0.85 AUD per kWh. However, non-Tesla users can access the lower Tesla owner rate by subscribing to a monthly Supercharging Membership through the Tesla app.
Tesla’s official Charging account on X (formerly Twitter) made the announcement clear, showcasing the new stall and its role in extending the rapidly growing network across Australia.
As electric vehicle adoption continues to rise, this milestone emphasizes Tesla’s commitment to enhancing EV infrastructure. For those in the area or planning a trip, the new Supercharger stall is a significant development that promises to improve the charging experience for everyone.
