BREAKING: Plans for three new high-rise apartment buildings totaling 236 units have just been submitted to Western Australia’s peak planning body, signaling a major development in Subiaco. The proposed buildings, located at 2 Upham Street, will feature a mix of one, two, and three-bedroom apartments across structures of 12, 9, and 7 storeys.
This ambitious project is set to include 155sqm of ground floor commercial space, a residential swimming pool, and a significant parking solution with 327 on-site parking bays and 187 bicycle bays. Additionally, 24 on-street public parking bays will enhance accessibility for visitors and residents alike.
The application, lodged by Rowe Group on behalf of developer Cedar Woods, comes on the heels of their neighboring Incontro development, which is currently under construction. That project, featuring a seven-storey apartment block and townhouses, is expected to open by mid-2027, with over 70 percent of its apartments already sold.
Residents and stakeholders have an opportunity to voice their opinions on this new triple-tower proposal, with a community comment period open until December 21. Interested parties can find more information and share their feedback on Have Your Say WA’s website.
This development represents a significant investment in the area, promising to reshape the Subiaco skyline and provide much-needed housing options in a growing community. The urgency of these plans reflects a broader trend in urban development across Perth, where demand for housing continues to rise.
As the planning process unfolds, all eyes will be on the feedback from the community and the responses from local officials. Stay tuned for updates as this story develops.
