At-Risk Youth Service Shines at 2025 Dubbo Business Awards

A service dedicated to at-risk youth received top honors at the 2025 Dubbo Business Chamber Rhino Awards, held at the Dubbo Turf Club on November 21, 2025. The event celebrated the achievements of local businesses and community contributors, with the not-for-profit organization Boys to the Bush winning the prestigious Gold Rhino Award for Dubbo’s most outstanding business. This recognition highlights the organization’s efforts to foster positive engagement among at-risk boys within their community.

Boys to the Bush not only secured the Gold Rhino Award but also earned accolades for excellence in diversity and inclusion. Jarrod Stanley, a representative of the organization, expressed pride in the recognition, stating, “We’ve been here for two and a half years, close to three, and it’s really nice to see the boy’s hard work paying off.” The organization’s dual success underscores its commitment to creating a supportive environment for young people in Dubbo.

Additionally, Dubbo City Toyota continued its success from the previous year, adding to its collection of awards by winning the Daily Liberal Award for Excellence in Large Business. The dealership’s employee, Amy Verrall, also received the award for apprentice or trainee of the year, further demonstrating the business’s dedication to nurturing talent.

Recognizing long-term contributions to the local business landscape, Paul McCallum, of Inland Petroleum, was added to the Jean Emile Serisier Honor Roll. His efforts have significantly impacted the fuel industry in country regions, earning him respect and admiration from the community.

This year’s Rhino Awards featured 19 categories, highlighting the diverse range of businesses and community contributions in Dubbo. The ceremony was hosted by American comedian Michael Goldstein, known for his role as a panellist on “The Hundred with Andy Lee.” His presence added an element of entertainment to the evening, celebrating local achievements in a lively atmosphere.

Award winners eligible for advancement will now represent Dubbo at the Western NSW Regional Business Awards, showcasing the town’s strengths on a broader stage. The Dubbo Business Chamber expressed gratitude to all sponsors for their support in making the event a success. Ashleigh Mudford, the chamber’s executive officer, highlighted the contributions of partners including Lulli & Lotti, Audio Plus, and Eat Your Greens.

Looking ahead, the 2026 Rhino Awards will mark the 30th anniversary of this prestigious event, continuing a tradition that celebrates the entrepreneurial spirit and community dedication of Dubbo’s businesses.
