El Cerro Mexican Bar and Grill has officially closed its long-standing location at 3167 S. Hwy. 17 in Garden City as of August 24. However, fans of the restaurant can look forward to a new dining experience at a location directly across the street.

In a statement shared on their Facebook page, the restaurant expressed excitement about the move, highlighting benefits such as a larger space, a more convenient parking area, and an improved atmosphere for both customers and staff. “While our goal is to open as soon as possible, it will take some time to get us all set up,” the announcement noted.

Menu Offerings and Dining Experience

El Cerro is known for its diverse menu, featuring a variety of options from shareable appetizers to specialty tacos, sizzling fajitas, and seafood dishes. Signature offerings include Arroz con Pollo, Enchiladas Poblanas, and Diablo Shrimp, along with the El Cerro Special, which combines ribeye, chicken, and shrimp. Diners can also enjoy chimichangas, burritos, fresh salads, and a dedicated kids’ menu, with daily lunch specials available.

The restaurant’s Facebook page emphasizes some of its most popular items, stating, “Our White queso and chips and salsa…so good!! Our popular mini chimis, sizzling fajitas, and cowboy chimichangas can’t go wrong.” The selection also includes a full range of bar drinks, enhancing the overall dining experience.

El Cerro operates a total of eight locations, including the one in Garden City, with additional restaurants in Surfside Beach, Conway, Georgetown, Carolina Forest, and Myrtle Beach. All locations maintain consistent hours, operating Monday through Saturday from 11:00 to 22:00 and on Sunday from 11:00 to 21:00.
