The Gracemere Combined Agents reported a significant increase in yarding at this week’s Prime and Store Sale, reaching a total of 5,012 head of livestock. This impressive figure included 1,745 steers, 2,499 heifers, 510 cows, 27 cows and calves, 149 Mickies, and 82 bulls. The sale, held on December 10, 2025, marked the final auction of the year, showcasing a vibrant market despite an easing in the slaughter market due to anticipated Meatworks closures.
The competitive nature of the store market was evident, buoyed by ongoing seasonal conditions that have supported prices. Buyers were keen to acquire quality livestock, contributing to a dynamic atmosphere at the auction.
Sale Highlights and Key Transactions
Among the standout sales, WF Land and Cattle from Banana sold Simmental Cross Steers for an impressive 498c/kg, with a total weight of 443 kg, resulting in a return of $2,209 per head. Y Galea of Sarina achieved notable success with Brangus Weaner Steers sold for 602c/kg, weighing 253 kg and netting $1,523 each.
Other significant transactions included G Clements from St Lawrence, who sold Brahman Weaner Steers for 458c/kg, weighing 229 kg and returning $1,051 per head. AP Herden from Jardine sold Brangus Cross Weaner Steers for 582c/kg, with weights at 193 kg, resulting in $1,126 each.
In the cow segment, Allan Roberts from Dululu sold Brangus Cows for 392c/kg, with a weight of 792 kg, achieving a remarkable $3,106 per head. Meanwhile, Williams Family Pastoral from Banana sold Black Simmental 2T Heifers for 402c/kg, weighing 411 kg, which returned $1,655 each. Long Island Farm Enterprises from Diglum also contributed to the day’s success with Brangus Heifers sold for 434c/kg, weighing 180 kg, resulting in $784 per head.
These transactions reflect a strong demand for quality livestock and highlight the competitive environment in the Gracemere market.
