Police in Orange have charged three youths following a series of break-ins that occurred during the early hours of January 4, 2026. The incidents, which took place between 2 a.m. and 4 a.m., involved several homes being targeted, resulting in the theft of three vehicles.
Officers from the Central West Police District launched an investigation into the break-ins and attempted burglaries. Their inquiries led to the execution of a search warrant on January 5, 2026, which culminated in the arrest of a 17-year-old boy. Authorities seized clothing, a mobile phone, and multiple knives from the scene for further examination.
In addition to the first suspect, two other boys, aged 17 and 15, were also taken into custody. The first 17-year-old has been charged with entering enclosed land without lawful excuse, possessing a knife in a public place, and breaching bail conditions. The second 17-year-old faces charges related to two outstanding warrants, while the 15-year-old has been charged with being carried in a vehicle taken without the owner’s consent.
The two older youths have been denied bail and are scheduled to appear in a children’s court on January 6, 2026. The younger suspect, however, has been granted bail, with a court appearance set for February 5, 2026.
The police investigation is ongoing, and authorities are urging anyone with information regarding the break-ins to reach out to Crime Stoppers at 1800 333 000 or through their website. All information is treated confidentially, and members of the public are advised not to report information via NSW Police social media channels.
