Polestar has announced an exciting collaboration with Gran Turismo 7, allowing gamers to virtually experience the performance of the upcoming Polestar 5. Set to debut in Spring 2026 with a price tag of $186,000, the Polestar 5 will be digitally available for racing fans next month, in December 2025.
This partnership aims to bridge the gap between the real-world driving experience of electric vehicles (EVs) and their representation in video games. Traditionally, EVs have been under-represented in the gaming landscape, often overshadowed by the thrilling sounds and gear shifts of conventional petrol-powered cars. By integrating the Polestar 5 into Gran Turismo 7, both Polestar and Polyphony Digital are taking a significant step to highlight the unique driving dynamics of electric cars.
Kazunori Yamauchi, the Producer of Gran Turismo, expressed his enthusiasm for the collaboration, stating, “I have long been impressed by Polestar cars for their advanced, clean, and elegant designs. I am delighted to collaborate with them to bring the Polestar 5 to Gran Turismo.” This marks the first collaborative effort between the two brands, and the outcome has been a highly accurate digital representation of the vehicle.
The development process involved close collaboration with professional racing driver Igor Fraga, who is known for his expertise in both real-world racing and virtual competitions. Fraga had special access to prototype Polestar 5 vehicles and worked alongside R&D experts at Polestar’s facilities in Sweden. The final validation occurred at the Brands Hatch circuit in England, ensuring that the digital experience closely mirrors the real car’s dynamics.
Joakim Rydholm, Head of Driving Dynamics at Polestar, emphasized the importance of achieving an authentic driving feel in the game. “Working with the Gran Turismo team to ensure the digital ‘feel’ of the Polestar 5 was as close as possible to the real thing was really important for us,” he noted. The collaboration aims to provide players with an experience that replicates the excitement of driving the actual vehicle.
Gran Turismo 7 is recognized as one of the most visually and dynamically accurate racing simulators available, with the franchise recently surpassing 100 million sales. This partnership suggests a promising future, with Polestar planning to introduce additional models into the game in the coming years.
To further engage players, a special time trial event will be hosted within Gran Turismo 7. The winner will be awarded an exclusive trip to Fukuoka, Japan, to attend the World Finals of the 2025 GT World Series.
For those interested in exploring this collaboration, a documentary film detailing the connection between the physical and digital realms of the Polestar 5 will be available on Polestar’s YouTube channel when the time trial goes live. This innovative partnership not only showcases the capabilities of modern electric vehicles but also sets a precedent for how luxury brands can engage with gaming and technology to reach a wider audience.
