New Mayor Venditti-Taylor Unveils Urgent 12-Month Agenda

UPDATE: Moorabool’s newly elected mayor, Steven Venditti-Taylor, has just announced his ambitious priorities for the next 12 months, focusing on vital infrastructure improvements and community facilities. Following his election victory on November 12, Venditti-Taylor is set to make significant changes aimed at enhancing the lives of residents in the growing shire.

In a press conference earlier today, the first-time councillor outlined his top priorities, highlighting the urgent need for funding to expedite the much-anticipated Bacchus Marsh Civic Centre. He described the center as a “game changer” for the community, emphasizing its potential to unify residents and improve convenience for the town’s population. “If we can get that happening, it’ll be fantastic,” he stated.

Additionally, the mayor underscored the importance of securing the final funding for the new Bacchus Marsh pool, aiming to kick off construction as soon as possible. “It’ll be a fantastic milestone if we can get that final grant and get the shovel in the ground,” he remarked, reaffirming his commitment to making the area a vibrant precinct for families.

Cr Venditti-Taylor is acutely aware of the rapid growth in the shire, particularly in residential areas like Underbank and Stonehill. He stressed that the current infrastructure is insufficient to attract new residents. “The moment we can get ahead of this, we can grow and get things going,” he asserted, indicating his commitment to diverse housing options across the shire.

Another critical aspect of his agenda includes developing an advocacy plan for Griffith Street in Bacchus Marsh. Community feedback has revealed frustrations surrounding traffic issues and accessibility, making this initiative essential for improving local amenities. “We’re listening to the community, and we will address these concerns,” Venditti-Taylor added.

Looking beyond Bacchus Marsh, he pointed to recent developments in Ballan, such as the new library and splash park, as promising examples of what coordinated investment can achieve. “When you look at the situation in Ballan, it’s looking really good. We’re probably starting to get on top of that,” he noted, reflecting on the potential for similar progress throughout the shire.

As the state election approaches in 12 months, Cr Venditti-Taylor has pledged to advocate fiercely for essential road, infrastructure, and major project funding. “We will push hard for every last thing we can get,” he declared, signaling a proactive approach to governance that prioritizes the needs of the community.

Residents of Moorabool can expect to see significant changes in the coming year as Cr Venditti-Taylor mobilizes resources and engages with the community to fulfill his urgent agenda. Keep an eye on this developing story as the mayor’s plans unfold.
