A popular sandwich shop, Mad Dash, is set to expand its presence in Charlotte by moving to a new location at Truist Plaza. Owner Corey Jones plans to open the full brick-and-mortar space in mid-March 2024, following a successful three-and-a-half-year tenure at the Market at 7th Street. This move represents a significant step for the brand, allowing it to enhance its footprint in the Uptown area where it has cultivated a loyal customer base.
Jones expressed enthusiasm about the expansion, stating, “We really wanted to expand our footprint. I wanted to stay in the Uptown area since we’ve been here for three years. We’ve built good foot traffic here and I didn’t want to lose it, but to expand on it.” The new location, identified as a second-generation space, will allow for a streamlined build-out, primarily focusing on enhancing the counter area and creating an inviting open layout with a visible kitchen.
Menu Changes and New Offerings
As Mad Dash transitions to Truist Plaza, Jones is planning various menu adjustments. While some popular items, such as the loaded fries, will be removed, others will be repositioned to weekly specials. The sandwich menu will see an expansion, retaining favorites like the Spicy Dasher Chicken Melt and the Blackened Shrimp Po’Boy. New offerings will include burgers, wraps, seasonal salads, and wings.
Additionally, Mad Dash will introduce a breakfast menu featuring sandwiches, bowls, and tacos, as well as coffee options. The restaurant will operate for breakfast, lunch, and dinner, with plans to offer a fast-casual brunch on Saturdays. Jones views this expansion as just the beginning, with aspirations to broaden Mad Dash’s reach in the Charlotte region by exploring partnerships and developing new concepts, such as a diner or an upscale restaurant.
“This is really just the beginning for the brand,” Jones remarked. “We’ll be looking to expand in the Charlotte area and grow into other locations.” The opening at Truist Plaza marks a new chapter for Mad Dash, which aims to build on its existing success while introducing fresh culinary experiences for its patrons.
