Kai Pearce-Paul Aims for Glory in Homecoming Ashes Clash

England rugby league player Kai Pearce-Paul is set to make a significant impact as he represents his country in the highly anticipated Ashes clash against Australia on October 25, 2025, at Wembley Stadium. This match not only marks the start of the Ashes series but also serves as a homecoming for Pearce-Paul, who hails from Lewisham in London.

After establishing himself in the NRL with the Newcastle Knights, Pearce-Paul is preparing to join the Wests Tigers in 2026. His journey began in London, where he developed his skills with the London Broncos before making his Super League debut for the Wigan Warriors in 2020. Now, he is poised to return to the capital, bringing a unique perspective and enthusiasm to the field.

Excitement Builds for the Ashes

As Pearce-Paul prepares for this monumental match, he expresses his excitement about playing in front of family and friends in his hometown. “This is the pinnacle of my young career,” he stated, reflecting on the opportunity to represent England at Wembley. The significance of the Ashes, which have not been contested for a long time, adds to the anticipation surrounding the event.

“I’ve got so many people coming to watch me, and doing it for my country is the best thing I can ask for,” he added. Pearce-Paul recalls attending matches at Wembley as a child, never imagining he would one day compete there himself. “It is a bit unreal, really,” he remarked, noting that the reality of the situation may hit him when he steps onto the field.

Facing a Strong Australian Side

Pearce-Paul’s experience in Australia gives him valuable insights into the formidable Australian team. With stars like Nathan Cleary, Cameron Munster, and Reece Walsh leading the charge, he acknowledges the strength of the opposition. “Every player in that team is a threat,” he said, emphasizing the need for his teammates to stay alert.

He plans to share his knowledge of the Australian players with his teammates throughout the week. “I have a better gauge of certain players and how they like to play,” Pearce-Paul explained. This understanding is crucial as England looks to take a decisive lead in the series.

The first Test of the Rugby League Ashes series promises to be a thrilling contest, with Pearce-Paul aiming to make his mark. With kick-off scheduled for 14:30 local time on Saturday, fans can follow the action on the Sky Sports website and app.

As the day approaches, Pearce-Paul continues to prepare both physically and mentally for the challenge ahead. A win against Australia in front of his home crowd would not only be a personal triumph but also a significant moment for England rugby league.
