Adidas Revives Iconic F50 Tunit Boots in Tribute to Messi

Adidas has launched a modern version of the iconic F50 Tunit boots, celebrating the 20th anniversary of their original release and paying tribute to football legend Lionel Messi. The new design echoes the innovative spirit of the original boots that Messi wore during the 2006 World Cup, marking a significant moment in both his career and football history.

The original F50 Tunit boots debuted in 2004 as Adidas’s response to Nike’s Mercurial Vapor, engineered for speed and lightweight performance. The unique design, which incorporated a more plastic aesthetic compared to traditional leather, set a new standard in football footwear. The follow-up spider-style model was introduced in 2005, leading to the F50 Tunit’s prominent role in the 2006 World Cup, where Messi donned them while representing Argentina.

While the tournament did not yield the success many anticipated for the Argentina squad, which faced elimination against Germany, Messi’s performance in those boots still resonates with fans. Adidas captures this nostalgia with their latest release: a limited-edition version that reflects the essence of the original Tunit boots.

According to Adidas, this new model features a white base adorned with blue-and-white color-blocked detailing on the heel. The lateral side prominently displays Messi’s number 10, while the medial side pays homage to the number 19, which Messi wore during the 2006 World Cup. This dual homage celebrates his legendary status and the beginning of his international career.

In a notable design detail, each boot comes with a gold Adidas logo on the heel, accompanied by three golden stars that signify Argentina’s World Cup victories, despite the team having claimed the title only twice by 2006.

The release is not just about the boots themselves; each pair is packaged in a specially designed shoebox that includes a dustbag and exclusive stickers specific to Messi. This attention to detail enhances the appeal for collectors and fans alike, making the purchase as much about the experience as the product.

As Adidas continues to celebrate its rich history with football icons, the F50 Tunit boots serve as a reminder of Messi’s impact on the game and the evolution of sports footwear. The anticipation surrounding this release suggests that fans will be eager to add these commemorative boots to their collection.

With the potential for further Tunit-inspired designs anticipated to align with the upcoming 2026 World Cup, this latest offering stands as a significant tribute to both Messi and the legacy of Adidas in football.
