UPDATE: An 85-year-old grandfather has been kidnapped from his home in North Ryde, New South Wales, in what police believe is a shocking case of mistaken identity. Authorities report that Chris Baghsarian was taken early Friday morning, February 3, 2024, around 5:00 AM AEDT, while alone in his bedroom.
Detective Acting Superintendent Andrew Marks revealed that there were signs of forced entry at Mr. Baghsarian’s residence. Neighbors alerted police after hearing disturbing noises, prompting an urgent response. “They took Mr. Baghsarian whilst he was at home, in his bedroom of his family home,” Det. Supt. Marks stated. “Police consider that Mr. Baghsarian was not the intended target … You have the wrong person.”
The three abductors are believed to have fled the scene in a dark-colored SUV, which was later found burnt out nearby. Authorities express grave concerns for Mr. Baghsarian, who requires daily medication. His family, who were not involved in any criminal activity, are devastated and pleading for his safe return. “They’re quite surprised that this has happened, and what they want is the safe return of their father,” Det. Supt. Marks emphasized.
The police urge anyone with information regarding Mr. Baghsarian’s whereabouts to come forward immediately or contact Crime Stoppers. He was last seen wearing a blue and maroon flannelette shirt and grey tracksuit pants.
