Dean Lewis Releases New Song Following Departure from Universal Music

Dean Lewis has made a notable return to the music scene with the release of his new track, “I Am Getting Well,” following his recent departure from **Universal Music Group**. This split occurred amidst allegations of inappropriate behaviour from multiple women, which Lewis has addressed in a lengthy Instagram post.

On October 15, 2023, Lewis shared a 1.5-minute video on TikTok, where he discussed his struggles over the past few months. “The last few months have been the worst of my life,” he stated, reflecting on his journey into rehabilitation to confront challenges he faced over nearly a decade. He expressed feelings of pressure and self-isolation, admitting, “I learned to feel good about myself by my achievements or external things around me,” emphasizing his struggle with self-validation.

New Track Reflects Personal Journey

The song “I Am Getting Well” is a product of Lewis’s introspection during rehabilitation. In his TikTok announcement, he explained how these experiences fueled his desire to write for those who feel lost, stating, “What if I wrote songs for people that have fallen off the track?” He aims to inspire listeners to understand that recovery and second chances are possible.

“I actually wrote it about eight months ago,” he added, noting that the song answers many of his own questions. Lewis acknowledged that he had spent years isolating himself despite being surrounded by people, recognizing the importance of community and connection in overcoming personal struggles.

The release of this track marks Lewis’s first independent project after parting ways with **Universal Music Australia**, where he had been signed for a decade. A spokesperson confirmed that he would continue his career as an independent artist, stating, “Dean Lewis is no longer signed to Universal Music Australia or any Universal Music Group label.”

Addressing Controversy and Seeking Growth

During the first show of his U.S. tour, Lewis opened up about his experiences, revealing he had sought treatment at an inpatient facility. “I haven’t really talked about this, but the last three months of my life have pretty much been the worst of my life,” he shared with the audience. This performance also marked the first time he played “I Am Getting Well” live.

Previously, Lewis faced scrutiny after allegations surfaced regarding his interactions with fans, leading to the withdrawal of his nominations for the **ARIA** and **TikTok** awards. In an Instagram apology shared in October 2022, he committed to taking “intense therapy” and accepted responsibility for his actions, although he denied any non-consensual behaviour.

An independent investigation by **PEDESTRIAN.TV** spoke with several women about their experiences with Lewis, which further complicated his public image.

As he moves forward, Dean Lewis emphasizes personal growth and finding joy in small things. The release of “I Am Getting Well” symbolizes not just a new chapter in his music career but also his ongoing journey towards healing and self-acceptance.
