New Frontrunners Emerge for The Golden Bachelor Season 2

The search for the next star of Australia’s popular dating show, The Golden Bachelor, has reportedly narrowed down to two frontrunners: Neil McIntosh and Craig Trinder. This development comes following the finale of the inaugural season, in which Barry Myrden chose Sunny Long as his partner. The second season is currently in production and is anticipated to air in 2026.

Channel 9, the network behind the show, is in the process of casting for the upcoming season. According to the Daily Mail, both Neil and Craig are considered strong contenders. Neil gained attention as a fan-favourite on the reality show My Mum, Your Dad, which aired in 2022, while Craig is known as a sports commentator based on the Gold Coast. A source mentioned that Neil is “charming, grounded, and husband material,” while Craig brings a blend of charisma and athleticism.

Despite their positive attributes, both contestants have a connection to the previous season that could complicate matters. Reports suggest that Craig has been romantically linked to Bianca Dye, who competed for Barry’s affections this past season. Meanwhile, Neil is said to have developed a connection with another standout from the show, Catherine Kirwan. Although these relationships remain unconfirmed, they have reportedly raised concerns among Channel 9 producers.

“The Golden Bachelor world is small. Very small. We’re hoping these boys are still single,” the source stated, highlighting the tight-knit nature of participants in the franchise. The insider added that having an ex-competitor appear during filming could pose challenges, describing the casting process as akin to “musical chairs for fifty-something romantics.”

As both Neil and Craig continue to be considered for the role of the next Golden Bachelor, the speculation surrounding their past relationships adds an intriguing layer to the forthcoming season. “They’re handsome, charming, emotionally intelligent, and genuinely lovely blokes,” the insider noted, emphasizing that any woman in Australia would be fortunate to date them.

While Channel 9 has not officially confirmed Neil and Craig as the new leads, it is clear that the search for contestants is ongoing. The network has only released a casting call for the upcoming season, leaving fans eagerly awaiting further details. For now, viewers can continue to enjoy the blossoming romance of Barry and Sunny as the excitement builds for The Golden Bachelor’s second season.
