Chloe Kelly has expressed her desire for continued success with Arsenal FC after experiencing a transformative year that brought her renewed happiness on the pitch. The forward played a pivotal role in securing trophies for both Arsenal and the England national team, including victory in the UEFA Champions League and the successful defense of the UEFA Women’s Euro 2025 title.
During the Champions League final, Kelly started as Arsenal triumphed over Barcelona with a score of 1-0. She also converted a crucial penalty in the shootout against Spain, leading the Lionesses to their Euro victory. Following these accomplishments, she earned a commendable fifth place in the Ballon d’Or rankings, capping off a remarkable season.
While Kelly’s achievements are noteworthy, her journey to this point was not without challenges. She faced difficulties during her exit from Manchester City, which preceded her loan move to Arsenal in January 2025. This tumultuous period ultimately led to a permanent transfer to the club, where Kelly has since found joy and a sense of belonging.
“I’m very grateful for Arsenal Football Club to bring me here and put a smile on my face on the pitch,” Kelly told Sky Sports. “As soon as I stepped foot in the door here, I felt comfortable and I felt that I was learning again on the pitch. So it was a step in the right direction for me.”
Renewed Motivation and Ambitions
Kelly’s recent successes have fueled her ambition for even more achievements. She noted, “To win the Champions League and the Euros was incredible, but I think my win last season was finding happiness back on the pitch. Everything from then on out was a bonus.” Her focus now lies in personal development and contributing to Arsenal’s future successes.
Since joining Arsenal, Kelly has made a significant impact on the field, scoring twice and providing five assists in just 13 appearances across all competitions. With her newfound confidence, she is eager to help Arsenal add to their trophy collection this season.
“Success makes you hungry for more,” she stated. “Stepping foot back into club football after the Euros made me want to achieve more at this special club. Our minds are set high, and that’s what the club deserves.”
Commitment to Women’s Football
Kelly emphasized the importance of Arsenal’s role in promoting women’s football. “Arsenal have always been at the forefront of that,” she remarked. “I’m proud to represent this club and the fans that come out to support us each week. We do it for them, and we want to put on a show.”
The Gunners are currently preparing for their next challenge against Aston Villa in the Women’s Super League (WSL) on Saturday, January 7, 2025. While Arsenal has not claimed the WSL title since 2019, Kelly remains focused on taking one game at a time and not looking too far ahead.
“At the end of each game, you look forward and aim to win the next one,” she explained. “We have our goals set high, but right now it’s about winning the first game and then the next.”
As Arsenal gears up for their next match, Kelly’s contributions will be vital in their pursuit of glory, both domestically and in Europe. With a talented squad around her, she is poised to make a lasting impact this season and beyond.
