Honda Racing Corporation is engaging in discussions about a potential factory entry into IndyCar in collaboration with Meyer Shank Racing. This comes as part of a new multiyear agreement that ensures both Honda and Chevrolet will continue their involvement in the series, each securing a charter for the 2028 season.

During a media call on March 15, 2024, David Salters, President of Honda Racing Corporation US, confirmed that preliminary talks are underway regarding the single-car factory effort. While details remain sparse, Salters acknowledged the importance of identifying the right team to support this initiative.

Honda’s renewed commitment to IndyCar follows a trend of manufacturers strengthening their presence in motorsport. The 2028 agreement signals a long-term strategy aimed at enhancing competitive performance and brand visibility in the racing landscape.

IndyCar has seen a surge in interest, with several teams exploring new partnerships and sponsorships. Honda’s proactive approach reflects its intention to not only remain competitive but also to leverage its technological advancements in the racing domain.

The collaboration with Meyer Shank Racing could potentially yield significant benefits for both parties, given the team’s recent successes and established reputation in the series. As the discussions progress, fans and stakeholders alike will be keen to see how this partnership evolves and what it may mean for Honda’s performance in upcoming seasons.

In the coming months, further announcements are expected as Honda and Meyer Shank Racing finalize their plans. The motorsport community will be watching closely to understand how this potential factory entry will shape the future of IndyCar racing.
