UPDATE: The second annual Wyndham Bike Night Christmas toy run is happening on Saturday, November 29, kicking off at 10 AM from the Highway Lounge in Werribee South. This community-driven event, organized by Marie ‘Gremlin’ Grima and her dedicated volunteers, aims to bring joy to local children in need.
The toy run will feature a convoy traveling through Wyndham, passing key locations such as the RAAF base in Point Cook and Werribee Plaza, before arriving at Brothers on K. The festive atmosphere continues with a free family festival from 12 PM to 4 PM, offering music, a jumping castle, popcorn, slushies, games, and snacks for all attendees.
Marie, who received support from Uniting Vic.Tas when she was a struggling single mother, emphasizes the importance of community involvement. “We need presents for all ages. If you can only give $5, then give $5. Anything that will help out is welcome,” she stated. A giving tree is already set up at Brothers on K for community members to drop off unwrapped gifts.
Last year’s toy run was a tremendous success, filling a van and two cars with presents for local children. All toys collected will be donated to Uniting Vic.Tas Werribee and distributed within the local area to those in need. Marie passionately reflects on her own experience, stating, “Uniting were there when I needed help. I was a young single mum 20 years ago and their help made a big difference.”
This is a critical opportunity for the community to come together and make a meaningful impact. Organizers encourage everyone to participate in the toy run and join the festivities at Brothers on K for a day of fun and generosity.
Don’t miss this chance to help make the holidays brighter for children in Wyndham. Mark your calendars and get ready to give back!
