Youth Myki Card Design Revealed by 11-Year-Old Winner

BREAKING: The design for the new Youth Myki cards has just been unveiled, featuring the artwork of 11-year-old Charlie Bindokas. His vibrant design will be showcased on over 1 million cards set to launch next year, marking a significant moment for young Victorians.

In a competition that attracted more than 6,600 entries, Charlie’s design was chosen by a panel and confirmed by Premier Jacinta Allan and Transport and Infrastructure Minister Gabrielle Williams. The winning artwork prominently features a V/Line train, a Metro train, a tram, and a bus, embodying the spirit of public transport in Victoria.

Minister Williams praised Charlie, calling him “our very own ‘Myki-angelo’.” She emphasized the impressive creativity displayed by all participants, stating, “Everyone who took part in the competition should be very proud of their achievements.”

In recognition of his talent, Charlie will receive a $1,000 gift card along with the honor of having his design featured. His artwork will be traveling in the pockets of a million young Victorians, making it a cherished part of their daily commutes.

The Youth Myki initiative was announced as part of this year’s state budget, which aims to make public transport more accessible for young people. Starting next year, children under 18 will be able to travel for free, a significant change that will ease financial burdens for families. The Youth Myki card will cost only $5, providing an affordable option for young commuters.

With the unveiling of this design, the excitement around public transport for young Victorians is palpable. Parents and children alike are encouraged to share their thoughts and reactions as this initiative rolls out.

Stay tuned for further updates as the launch date approaches and see how this new card impacts the lives of young commuters across Victoria.
