Business Owners Secure $29 Million Drummoyne Home, Setting Record

Business owners Ralph and Maria Mesiti have made headlines with their recent purchase of a home in Drummoyne for $28.95 million. This off-market transaction represents a new record for the suburb, surpassing previous sales and marking a significant shift in the local real estate landscape. The sale was completed in a deal facilitated by property developer Brian Boyd, although Steven Chen, co-founder of The Agency, declined to comment on the specifics of the arrangement.

The Drummoyne residence, which encompasses five bedrooms and four bathrooms, spans approximately 1,400 square metres and includes luxurious amenities such as a pool, jetty, and tennis court. The interiors feature high ceilings and a neutral palette, contributing to an elegant living space that is both spacious and inviting.

This record-breaking sale follows a notable performance in the Drummoyne market, where a house on Drummoyne Avenue sold for $16 million in 2021. In addition, a penthouse in the new Central Element development recently fetched $14 million, indicating a growing demand for high-end properties in the area.

Historic Arnott’s Estate Listed for Sale

The Mesitis’ move comes as they have listed their landmark property, the Arnott’s estate, for sale with a price guide exceeding $20 million. This heritage-listed estate, located on a sprawling 4,500-square-metre block in Strathfield, was originally constructed for Harold Arnott, the director of Arnott’s Biscuits and grandson of the founder, William Arnott. The estate features a main five-bedroom home, along with a separate four-bedroom residence, and is currently being marketed through expressions of interest.

The listing has attracted considerable attention due to its historical significance and expansive grounds, which include well-maintained gardens and ample outdoor space.

High-Profile Sales Continue in Southern Highlands and Mosman

In another significant real estate transaction, esteemed engineer Peter Tyree, AM, and his wife Helen have placed their 12-hectare estate in the Southern Highlands on the market with a price guide of $13 million to $14 million. The couple acquired the property in 2021 for $4.5 million, and Peter has since transformed it into an energy-efficient sanctuary, incorporating state-of-the-art features such as solar panels and advanced battery storage.

The estate includes various amenities like a barn designed for off-grid living, a main residence with two bedrooms and three bathrooms, and additional structures for accommodation and recreation. Tyree, the son of the late Sir William Tyree, known for founding Tyree Transformers, is now semi-retired but remains active as an advisor and chairman of the Tyree Foundation.

In the exclusive Mosman area, a property previously owned by Mengyao Ling, a former business partner of Olympian Michael Klim, has reportedly sold for approximately $40 million. The sale, which was finalized on December 11, involved a five-storey mansion boasting panoramic views of Sydney Harbour, tennis courts, and luxurious interiors.

Ling purchased the Clifton Gardens residence in 2020 for $22 million. Local agents have noted a growing interest in architectural homes along the lower north shore, indicating a robust market for high-value properties.

As these transactions unfold, the Australian property landscape continues to demonstrate resilience and appeal, particularly in prestigious suburbs where demand remains strong despite broader market fluctuations.
