GAC’s Quark E-Drive power domain control system has become the first in the world to receive dual certification for both ASIL D functional safety and information security. This significant achievement, accredited by DAkkS, Germany’s national accreditation body, underscores GAC’s commitment to the highest standards in automotive safety and security.
The certification process was conducted by SGS-CSTC Standards Technical Services Co., Ltd., a globally recognized authority in certification. The Quark E-Drive complies with ISO 26262, the international standard for automotive functional safety. Within this framework, ASIL D represents the highest level of safety integrity, demanding near-zero tolerance for safety-critical failures. By attaining this certification, GAC demonstrates that its product adheres to the most stringent global safety standards.
Since its launch in February 2025, the Quark E-Drive has been actively utilized across various models under GAC’s brands, including HYPTEC and AION. This innovative system is notable for being the first electric drive power domain solution that employs a single main control chip. This approach not only reduces the overall chip count but also mitigates risks associated with chip-level failures, boosting motor controller efficiency to an impressive 99.9%.
The successful certification validates that GAC has followed a rigorous product development lifecycle, fully compliant with both ISO 26262:2018 for functional safety and ISO/SAE 21434:2021 for information security standards. Throughout the development, the GAC Technology Research Center collaborated closely with SGS experts, enhancing safety designs and ensuring optimal engineering feasibility and user experience.
Zhao Hui, Vice President of SGS China, remarked on the achievement, stating, “The successful certification highlights GAC’s strong team and robust development systems. We are pleased to support the safety of the Quark E-Drive and look forward to closer collaboration.”
This milestone not only signifies a breakthrough for GAC but also establishes a new global benchmark for safety in the intelligent electric vehicle industry. As electric vehicle technology continues to evolve, GAC’s Quark E-Drive sets a precedent for future innovations, prioritizing safety and security in automotive engineering.
