Fieldwork Brewing Co., a craft brewery originally founded in Berkeley, is preparing to open a full-service taproom and restaurant in San Francisco. The new location will be situated at 300 Toni Stone Crossing as part of the Mission Rock waterfront development. This announcement comes from the San Francisco Business Times, which details the brewery’s plans to occupy a spacious 3,750-square-foot area. The taproom is expected to begin operations in 2026, alongside other new retailers, including Chipotle and MNT Studio Pilates.
The Mission Rock development is ambitious, spanning 28 acres along the waterfront in Mission Bay. It is a collaborative project led by Mission Rock Partners, a joint venture formed by Tishman Speyer and the San Francisco Giants. The first phase of this multi-faceted project was completed in late 2023 and early 2024, incorporating office buildings, residential towers, and retail spaces. This initial phase received recognition as the San Francisco Business Times’ 2023 Deal of the Year.
Fieldwork Brewing’s new taproom will feature a full-service kitchen and bar, providing customers with a variety of beers available on tap and to go. The brewery, well-known for its small-batch production and diverse beer offerings, will enhance its presence in San Francisco with this additional location. The brewery operates several taprooms throughout Northern California, including in Berkeley, Corte Madera, and Santa Rosa.
Beyond the taproom, Fieldwork Brewing plans to operate a food-and-beverage kiosk and an adjoining beer garden within the five-acre China Basin Park. This park serves as a communal space within the Mission Rock development, allowing Fieldwork to cater to both taproom patrons and park visitors. The inclusion of outdoor gathering areas reflects the overarching vision for Mission Rock, enhancing the community-focused atmosphere.
Fieldwork Brewing Company, established in 2014, has gained a reputation for its innovative and varied beer styles. Its lineup includes West Coast and hazy IPAs, lagers, barrel-aged stouts, and seasonal releases. Signature offerings feature the Anniversary IPAs, the Good Conduct barrel-aged series, and a selection of rotating double- and triple-IPA releases. Most of these beers are available on tap and in 16-ounce cans for takeaway, along with non-alcoholic options.
As Fieldwork Brewing prepares for its new taproom opening in Mission Rock, the expansion represents a significant step forward for the brewery, which continues to thrive in the competitive craft beer market. The combination of a full-service dining experience and access to a vibrant park space promises to attract both locals and visitors to the bustling waterfront area.
