A man has been arrested in Rye following the recovery of an allegedly stolen jet ski and a significant quantity of counterfeit money. This action took place on January 9, 2026, as part of a collaborative investigation involving South Australia Police. Officers from the Rosebud Uniform executed a search warrant at a property on Collingwood Street, leading to the discovery of a jet ski and trailer believed to have been stolen from Mannum on September 21, 2025.
During the operation, police uncovered over $11,300 in counterfeit currency, purportedly used in a series of financial deceptions. Additional items seized included three outboard motors, another vessel, and illegal drugs. The situation escalated when officers found the 32-year-old Rye man preparing to leave the property with the stolen jet ski and trailer attached to a vehicle.
As a result of the investigation, the suspect was taken into custody and faces a total of 22 charges. He has been granted bail and is scheduled to appear at the Dromana Magistrates’ Court on February 12, 2026. The police continue to investigate the broader implications of the counterfeit money and the theft, aiming to uncover any additional connections to criminal activities within the region.
