Seniors Enjoy Free Public Transport During Victoria’s Festival Next Week

UPDATE: Victorian senior card holders can take advantage of eight days of free public transport from October 5 to October 12, 2023, just in time for the exciting events during Victoria’s Seniors Festival. This initiative allows seniors to explore the state’s offerings at no cost, enhancing the festival experience across Hume and Whittlesea.

Senior card holders can travel for free on all metropolitan trains, trams, and buses, as well as regional trains, coaches, and local town bus services. To access this opportunity, seniors must carry their seniors myki and Victorian seniors card. While passengers are encouraged to touch on and off as usual, no charges will be applied during this promotional period.

Authorities urge seniors to travel during off-peak hours to secure a seat, as services are expected to be less crowded. Additionally, senior card holders can make free group reservations for up to 19 people on train services and 12 or more on coach services.

This year’s Seniors Festival runs from October 1 to October 31, 2023, featuring a variety of events aimed at celebrating and engaging the senior community. For those interested in the festival’s activities, including aged care tours and the Senior of the Year awards, the full calendar is available online at https://www.seniorsonline.vic.gov.au/festival-calendar.

Public Transport Victoria (PTV) encourages seniors to seize this opportunity to explore their surroundings and participate in the festival’s numerous events. For more information about free travel and other services, visit ptv.vic.gov.au.
