URGENT UPDATE: Thornhill Park Primary School is set to receive a significant boost with the announcement of four new double-storey classrooms as part of the Modular Classrooms Program. Melton MP Steve McGhie confirmed this initiative just last month, with construction slated to begin this year, aiming to accommodate an additional 100 students.
These state-of-the-art classrooms will feature double-glazed windows and enhanced insulation to minimize heat loss, while innovative wall and ceiling linings will help reduce internal noise. The energy-efficient design will also include internal block-out blinds, creating an optimal learning environment for students.
“This development is vital for providing Victorian students with a first-class education,” said McGhie. He emphasized the importance of top-tier facilities, stating, “We’re always monitoring what additions our schools need to make this happen.”
Additionally, Minister for Education Ben Carroll highlighted the growing needs of local schools, asserting that “these modular classroom buildings provide a fast and flexible solution.” The overall initiative will see 12 new classrooms constructed across nine schools statewide, collectively increasing capacity for an impressive 915 students.
The new facilities are expected to be ready and operational by Term 2, 2024, marking a substantial investment in the education infrastructure of the region. This expansion comes in direct response to the heightened demand for classroom spaces in the area, reflecting the commitment to enhancing educational opportunities for all students.
