Saudi Clubs Eye Antony as Manchester United Explores Options

Two prominent clubs from the Saudi Pro League are reportedly interested in signing Antony, currently a winger for Manchester United. This potential transfer comes as discussions around his future intensify, particularly given that a return to Real Betis, where he spent last season on loan, seems increasingly unlikely as the transfer window progresses.

Antony is taking a measured approach to his next move, aiming to assess all available options before making a commitment. Several European clubs are monitoring his situation, including Atletico Madrid, Bayer Leverkusen, and Bayern Munich. Despite this interest, Bayern appears to be prioritizing a left-winger, which may complicate their pursuit of Antony.

Erik ten Hag, the manager of Bayer Leverkusen and the individual who facilitated Antony’s £86 million transfer to Manchester United in 2022, has publicly stated that “we are not interested at the moment.” He also added, “we’ll see what happens in the future,” hinting at the financial considerations that will influence any potential deal involving Antony.

Antony had a commendable season at Betis, contributing significantly with nine goals and five assists in 26 appearances. However, Betis currently lacks the financial resources to secure a permanent deal for the winger, expressing an interest in exploring another loan arrangement.

Despite Manchester United’s preference for a permanent sale, formal bids have yet to materialize. So far, only Leverkusen and Betis have made contact regarding Antony’s availability. Interest from Saudi Arabia is reportedly on the rise, with Antony potentially open to this opportunity, although he has expressed a desire to remain in Europe.

As the transfer window unfolds, the situation remains fluid. Manchester United’s approach to Antony’s future will be critical, especially as they weigh their options against emerging interests from both domestic and international clubs. The football community will be closely watching how this narrative develops, particularly with the financial implications at play for all parties involved.
