Urgent: Drugged Driver Caught Running Red Light in Brooklyn

UPDATE: A 35-year-old man from Bacchus Marsh was arrested late last night for driving under the influence of drugs and running a red light in Brooklyn. Authorities confirm the incident occurred around 10:30 PM on November 13, 2023, when the driver was pulled over on Francis Street.

Witnesses report that the driver claimed he was rushing a passenger to the hospital. However, police revealed that the nearest hospital was actually in the opposite direction, raising serious concerns about his claims.

Westgate Highway Patrol officers conducted an oral fluid test on the suspect, which returned a positive result for drugs. The driver, who was found to be unlicensed, is expected to face charges related to drug driving, running a red light, and operating a vehicle without a license.

The cost of impounding the vehicle, a black Holden Commodore sedan, amounts to $999.52. Police are urging drivers to adhere to traffic laws and avoid driving under the influence, emphasizing the potential danger to all road users.

This incident highlights a growing concern regarding road safety and the risks posed by unlicensed and impaired drivers. Authorities are calling for immediate action to address these issues within the community.
