Urgent: Fire Destroys Three Homes in Sydenham, Investigation Launched

UPDATE: A devastating fire erupted in Sydenham, destroying two homes and threatening a third on September 15. Authorities confirm that police and Fire Rescue Victoria’s (FRV) specialist fire investigators are now probing the cause of this alarming incident.

The fire ignited on Mountbatten Way and quickly escalated, engulfing one double-storey and one single-storey brick townhouse. As flames raged, the fire rapidly spread to an adjacent double-storey property due to heavy winds and an excessive fuel load.

In a swift response, a crew of 30 firefighters from FRV and the Country Fire Authority (CFA) worked tirelessly to combat the blaze. Their coordinated efforts successfully protected two additional properties from severe damage. The fire was declared under control by 5:28 PM, but not before leaving significant destruction in its wake.

Paramedics assessed all residents on the scene, ensuring everyone’s safety amidst the chaos. Fortunately, there were no reported injuries, but the emotional toll on the affected families is immense.

Authorities are urging anyone with information about the fire to come forward as they seek to understand how this calamity unfolded. Investigators are expected to continue their work throughout the day, gathering evidence and interviewing witnesses.

Residents in the area are advised to remain vigilant as fire conditions continue to pose risks. Stay tuned for further updates as this situation develops.
