Malcolm McDowell Praises Daughter-in-Law Lily Collins, Avoids Her Show

Malcolm McDowell, the renowned actor known for his role in A Clockwork Orange, has revealed that he does not watch his daughter-in-law, Lily Collins, in the popular Netflix series Emily in Paris. In a recent interview with People, the 82-year-old actor stated that the show does not appeal to him, although he expressed his admiration for Collins’ talent.

“To be honest with you, it’s not my kind of thing, and Lily knows that,” McDowell shared. Despite his lack of interest in the series, he emphasized that he is a fan of Collins. “I think she’s absolutely one of the great actresses,” he added, highlighting her remarkable on-screen presence.

Admiration for Lily Collins’ Talent

McDowell praised Collins, who is the daughter of musician Phil Collins, for her “beautiful aura” and unique charisma. He remarked, “She has such a beautiful quality. As far as I’m concerned, when she’s on the screen, there’s nobody else on it, because she’s not only a good actress, but she has a beautiful quality.”

His admiration extends beyond her acting skills. McDowell believes that Collins has contributed significantly to tourism in Paris, stating, “I’m sure it has gone up so much from people in the United States watching and going, ‘Yeah, let’s go to Paris.’”

In previous statements, McDowell has likened Collins to the legendary actress Audrey Hepburn, suggesting that she embodies similar qualities. “Lily is absolutely a star. I’m in awe of her work. I think she’s one of the best young actresses around. I love watching her,” he remarked. He further noted that she possesses an indefinable charm, saying, “There’s a sort of light that shines behind the eyes somehow.”

Family Ties and Distance

Despite his admiration, McDowell admitted that he does not see his son, Charlie McDowell, and daughter-in-law as often as he would like. With the couple residing in Europe, he expressed a desire to spend more time with them, saying, “They live in Europe a lot of the time, so I don’t really see them that much, but when I see them, it’s always great to just hang.”

Malcolm McDowell’s reflections on his daughter-in-law highlight not only her talents but also the close family bond they share, despite the geographical distance. As Lily Collins continues to make her mark in the entertainment industry, her family remains her staunchest supporters.
